Jana L. Ekdahl, MA, LMHC

I live in the Emerald City with three fabulous felines. We reside in a friendly Tales of the City complex that conjures up a communal spirit akin to Anna Madrigal, the bohemian matriarch created by Armistead Maupin. Seattle offers a first-class urban experience, with its own share of natural beauty, while the nearby mountains and seashore do beckon.

I feel a deep kinship with the natural world and these scenes reflect two of my favorite moods. From the depths of the ocean to the heights of the mountain tops, there is nothing more spectacular than these wild places. That is one characteristic of cats that endear me - they won't easily let go of their wild side. Living with a cat is like having a bit of the wilderness at home with you, curled up by the fire.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are more powerful beyond measure ................ As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
